We are pleased to update our patients that we have now finalised this year’s flu vaccination campaign at the practice, which will be commencing clinics from Monday 6th October 2025.
Due to national changes to this year’s campaign, practices are now required to use a new system to record flu vaccines on patient records which is more time consuming that our previous method. Because of this, we will not be offering walk-in or weekend clinics this year. Instead, we will be offering pre-bookable clinics across all three branches throughout October.
This year, all eligible patients that have a valid mobile number recorded on their record will be sent a text message inviting them to book in for their flu vaccination using a self-booking link embedded in the message. This will allow patients the ability to book in for their flu vaccine at a time that suits them without needing to call the practice. An example of what the text message will look like is shown to the left. Appointment booking links will expire after 7 days. All flu appointments are 3-minutes long, meaning you might notice some of the appointment times available are slightly times that you are used to (9:03am, 10:18am etc).
For those patients that do not have a valid mobile number, have access to a mobile phone, or have declined receiving text messages from the practice, we will be sending invitations by letter as we have done in previous years and appointments can be booked over the phone with the reception team. If you are calling us to book in, we would appreciate if you could call after lunchtime as our phone lines are very busy in the mornings.
We will be sending invites to eligible patients next week and appointments will be available to book from Wednesday 27th August.
We would like to encourage those who receive a self-booking link to use this booking method as it allows us to keep our phones clear for those patients with the greatest clinical need. You will receive a booking confirmation once you have booked via the link and will receive multiple reminders in the run up to your appointment with cancellation links if you are no longer able to attend. If you have the NHS Wales App, all appointments booked at the practice should appear on there also.
Children who are eligible to receive their nasal flu vaccine at the practice (those born between 01/09/2021 - 31/08/2023), will receive invites from the end of August and we will be running dedicated nasal flu clinics at the end of September.
